Welcome Kaitlyn

Monday April 13, 2009...
We welcomed Kaitlyn Christine Woods into the world Monday morning at 7:54am.  She is 6 lbs 11oz and 19.5 inches long.  The c-section went very well and we were amazed that it was only a matter of 5 minutes between the first incision and her arrival.   The staff and doctors made this surgery really comfortable and easy for us all - it was impressive.

Kaitlyn is a name we both liked and continually returned to as a favorite when considering girl's names.  We wanted something unique but not too-far-out-there, something that wasn't easily made into a bad playground nickname and something that could not be mispronounced too badly when you saw it.    Christine is in honor of Kerstin's grandmother.  While Kaitlyn has several spellings, we liked it to start with a K (like her mom) and also so that here initials were KCW and we liked it to end with the y (instead of i) because we felt it looks nicer and is less repetitive.

To make this experience even more amazing our brother and sister in San Luis Obispo, who had their little baby boy, Logan Michael Woods, twelve hours later TO THE MINUTE!  What an incredible day in the history of our family - the beginning of the next generation both born on the same day at 7:54 (am & pm).   We couldn't have even tried to plan that!

Here is a picture of Kaitlyn from Day 1!
