On Friday night we got to take Uncle RiRi (Rich) and Aunt Pij out on the Duffy for the first time. They are out from Colorado and we're so excited to see them!
Here we are at packet pickup in Huntington Beach Saturday morning.
We've got our game faces on.
Love the surf motif for the Surf City Marathon.
A long line means "up please!" and "shoulders please!" and "go that way, mush!" (just kidding on that last one)
Daddy's such a good sport. I think he should consider this training to keep him limber for tomorrow.
Daddy's such a stud he can accommodate two little monkey requests at once!
Daddy will be bib #9899 (aka: #superdaddy). Mommy will be bib #wimp (because she wimped out and isn't running).
Ready to catch a wave and cheer Daddy on!
Packet pickup was a lot of fun - lots of samples to try and a Kettle Corn spot at the end to enjoy by the beautiful beach. It's gonna be a great race tomorrow!
That evening we headed to the beach in Newport for a bike ride with our friends to the playground.
And then ice cream afterwards - yeah!!!!
It's race day!
It's also Super Bowl Sunday.
We are bundled up and have our Bronco colored balloons to help people find us in the large crowd (over 20,000 runners!)
We had to park SO far away and walk SO far, even before the Starting line.
Daddy is running the half-marathon and so is Uncle Craig.
We're already wiped out and they are just getting started on their 13.1 mile run!
First stop, a great breakfast with Nana and Aunt Pij at Ruby's at the end of the pier. Nothing like pancakes and an ocean view to start the day off right.
Then straight down to Main Street to try to find Daddy before he crosses the finish line.
Way to go Daddy!!
Rocking his medal and proud of him.
Quick beach shower to cool off and it's time to cheer on Uncle Rich who is running the full marathon! He's our hero - he had run over 100 marathons (each 50 states, all Canadian Providences and more!) and he's in his 60s!
But first, a sand angel - because, why not?!?!
YEAH Uncle Rich!!! Approaching the finish line after 23.2 miles and looking great!!!!
And since we're Bronco fans, of course, and this is a special occasion to have Rich & Pij here, we hosted the whole Oscarson/Roth gang for a Super Bowl Party.
We helped with the flowers and decorations.
Daddy and us also helped on the adorable football brownies Mommy made.
Yeah for good helpers!
The Oscarson cousins - they almost look like sisters!!!!
Fun to be with Rich and Pij.
Despite the horrorible of a football game, it was a fun family reunion.
KK: I especially liked dancing on Mommy's lap to Bruno Mars during the half-time show, the whole ball game thing doesn't really keep my interest.
Our sweet family.
Great weekend and congratulations racers!
