We arrived at the Balboa Island dock area early to make sure we got a good spot on the boat. There is our big ferry in the background!
We look a little bit rockstar-ish - fitting for an island adventure.

While this is Mommy's first ferry ride, this is not her first rodeo, so we were stocked with new games and great snacks for the ~45-60 minute ride over to the island.
My future's so bright I really do need to wear shades!

Counting how many times I beat Mommy at Crazy 8s....I'm running out of fingers!

It was super easy to pass the time.
And the boat was pleasantly smooth.
Once we arrived on the island it was time for our first adventure!
An underwater submarine tour. Sweet!!!!
It's like on the Octonauts!!!!
Going in January was a great idea - we practically had the whole island, and the whole submarine to ourselves!
And they are not messing around when they bring you up close and personal with the fish.
The star of the show and our favorite - the Garibaldi fish (official state fish of California).
It is a gorgeous fish of bright orange color.
A good reminder of how important it is to be a light in the world - look at how much this little fish adds to the darkness!!!

We are learning a ton.
And having fun!
We got to go up top on the Submarine too to check out all of the sea lions and dolphins.
Cool!
After our sub ride it was time to explore Catalina.
We walked along the cute streets up to a park that Mommy had researched.
It was perfect. Lots of fun and a perfect spot for a little snack picnic.
Then we headed to a little restaurant for lunch. Our fish & chips were great although we had to taste the icky Clam Chowder that Daddy was eating - ewwwwww. Even the name sounds gross.
Then, because we are on such a good schedule, like clockwork at 1pm we got in the stroller and Mommy and Daddy walked all over the island while we took a nap. The sun was out and it was a great day for a walking nap.
We woke up and had a special ice cream treat.
It was great!
And, sharing IS caring!
Then we headed to another park to soak up the last minutes of the island while playing slide racer with some new friends until our boat was ready to depart.
All aboard!
Daddy and I braved the windy rear of the boat to watch the island fade into the sunset.
What a great day...
